Principal Investigator
Michael Bennett, M.D. is the Director of Clinical Research and Principal Investigator of Medical Associates Research Group, Inc., which he co-founded in 1997. He also serves as CEO of San Diego Digestive Disease Consultants, where he has practiced medicine since 1987. Active in clinical research since 1985, Dr. Bennett has conducted close to 200 research studies and has served as principal investigator on several studies which have had results published in the New England Journal of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Bennett has written articles published in a number of medical journals such as the American Journal of Surgery, Gastroenterology, and Cancer.
Dr. Bennett received his medical education at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Oakland, CA and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at University of San Diego, CA. He holds certification as a Diplomat by the American Board of Internal Medicine (1980) and Diplomat by the American Board of Gastroenterology (1984). He is also a member of California Medical Association, San Diego County Medical Association, San Diego Gastroenterology Society, American Gastroenterology Association, and Southern California Gastroenterology Society , The Obesity Society and San Diego Integrated NAFLD Research Consortium (SINC).
